Simon Pagenaud drove for Schmidt Peterson Motorsports last year and finished 5th in the championship.  For 2015, Simon will be driving for Team Penske.  Here are Simon’s answers to 5 Questions:

1. Who is your toughest competitor on the track?
For me the toughest competitor on the track is Will Power. His strengths on the road courses are superb, but he is also rounding himself into a complete racer. That was evident in his championship run last year.
2. Outside of motorsports, what is your favorite sport to watch?
Outside of motorsports my favorite sport to watch is downhill skiing. I grew up near some fantastic ski areas of France and I’ve been going every year since I was a child. I have some good friends who can ski very well and I’m always impressed with the skills and technique it takes.
3. In regards to racing, what is the biggest lesson you learned in 2014?
For me I learned a lot about oval racing in 2014. How to tackle the event – especially the Indy 500 – and how to setup your car going into the race. Understanding the level of downforce that you are supposed to run to move forward is going to be a big deal for me.
4. What is the coolest thing a fan has ever done for you?
I’ve had a lot of cool things done for me by the fans. One of the nicest things someone has done for me was when I was having my wisdom teeth removed. Both the guys on my team and race fans sent me Edible Arrangements. I thought that was really nice. And a really big fan of mine that I see every year at Mid-Ohio got me a carbon fiber key chain that was really cool.
5. What is your favorite race track and why?

My favorite racetrack is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway because of what it represents and because of how it feels when you drive through the tunnel. The way it transforms for the race weekend just gives you this incredible feeling that you are about to take part in one of the biggest races in the world.
