Garth Rickards drove for Team Pelfrey last year in F1600 and finished 2nd in the championship. For 2015, Garth will be driving for Team Pelfrey in the USF2000. Here are Garth’s answers to 5 Questions:
1. Who is your toughest competitor on the track?
I would say my toughest competitor on track would have to be myself right now. I’ve had many great battles with some really great drivers but I think I push myself more than anyone else.
2. Outside of motorsports, what is your favorite sport to watch?
Outside of motorsports I love to watch the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Capitals. I grew up playing ice hockey my whole life and love the sport! I also am in a very competitive fantasy football league with my friends from school so I follow the NFL pretty closely.
3. In regards to racing, what is the biggest lesson you learned in 2014?
The biggest lesson I learned in 2014 is never give up because some of the weekends we faced some pretty big challenges but we never gave up, which is why we almost won the championship.
4. What is the coolest thing a fan has ever done for you?
Well let me say that I have the coolest fans out there but last year I had a couple fans from my home town drive all the way up to Toronto just to watch me race and meet me.
5. What is your favorite race track and why?
My favorite track is most definitely Watkins Glen because it is just one of those places where you have to really hang it out there every single lap in order to be quick. The elevation changes and layout are hard to match anywhere else. And most of all the town has so much history with Formula One, it’s a place I would go just to check out for a weekend.
