RC Enerson: Phoenix Recap
Phoenix in my eyes was a pretty successful weekend, we hit some speed bumps and made some mistakes with the car setup but we ended with a really great result. We knew that we were going to be looking for a podium or win because of how quick we were in testing and we did just that. The first 2 practices were great for us as we developed a really good car in traffic, so we knew we were going to have a great race setup. I was never able to get a good qualifying stint in during practice so we were going into qualifying a little bit blind. I was able to put the car P4 but I knew we had way more than what we showed, so we just had to focus on putting together the best race package we could.
At the start of the race I got a good jump to take 3rd on the first lap. The first 40 laps was just settling into position and making sure the tires would last to the end. Around the half way point we started to catch lap traffic and that was going to be my moment to attack because my car was good in dirty air, but the yellow came out due to a spin which ruined the plans of using lap traffic to my advantage. Once we went back to green I couldn’t do too much, it was really difficult to get close and pass so we had to settle with a 3rd place finish. Overall it was a great weekend, the team did great and we collected a lot of points. Now we need to carry this momentum throughout the rest of the season. Now, bring on Barber!
