It’s a gorgeous day for the Angie’s List Grand Prix. Today’s schedule is packed from beginning to end full of the Mazda Road to Indy. USF 2000 qualifications just finished with Nico Jamin taking the pole position while Aaron Telitz and Jake Eidson round out the top 3. There was a lot of action in the MRTI garage area this morning. I arrived at 8:30am and the mechanic’s and engineers were in full swing. One of the refreshing things I saw was Bobby Rahal in the Team Pelfrey garage supporting driver Garth Rickards. Garth is sponsored by the Bobby Rahal Automotive group. It would be easy and tempting to just put your name on a car, but Bobby shows that he fully supports this sponsorship deal with a personal touch.
Pro Mazda is on the track qualifying right now with Will Owen currently enjoying the to spot with a 1:24:1418, just a tenth in front of Wieron Tan. The Juncos team was making some final tweaks on their cars this morning and so far, it looks like they made the right adjustments. Stay tuned to see who wins the pole for the Pro Mazda race later today.
Indy Lights is scheduled to qualify at noon, while Dreyer & Reinbold will unveil “The Old and New” legacy car driven by Townsend Bell behind the Pagoda Plaza. Come out and enjoy a day at the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
