Bolton: A Passion for Racing

By davidindycar • Bolton • 1 Feb 2013

We’ve all heard the saying ”When life hands you a lemon, make lemonade.”  For one racer, he is actually doing it.  At 12 years of age, Michael Johnson was paralyzed mid-chest down during a dirt track motorcycle competition.  For most, their racing career would be over but not Michael.  He made a decision to race cars and came up with the audacious goal of being the first paralyzed driver to race in the Indy 500.  He just signed with JDC Motorsports and will be competing in his second season in the USF2000.

Last fall, at the official Road to Indy test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Michael ended up being the second fastest overall.  JALOPNIK ON DRIVE did a video story on Michael, basically telling his story and what got him here.  Click on the link and enjoy!!
