It’s an exciting weekend with two days of IndyCar racing through Belle Isle Park in Detroit! With the Indy 500 having come and gone, teams will now be turning their focus to the championship battle as the season kicks into high gear.
Here are some good choices that may help kick your fantasy hopes into gear as well!
Graham Rahal
Mr. Consistency hasn’t finished outside of the top ten once this year. He continues to turn poor qualifying results into solid races. Having swept the Detroit weekend last year in dominant fashion, look for GR to turn solid results into a great result this weekend.
Will Power
He’s fresh off the biggest win of his career, so it’s safe to say momentum is in his corner. The Penske ace, along with his teammates, will want to do well as this is a big weekend for Penske. Look for all of the Captain’s drivers to be strong.
James Hinchcliffe
The mayor of Hinchtown is back with a vengeance after being sidelined last week for the 500. Hinch has a lot of ground to make up in the championship. He will certainly be hoping to get that comeback started this weekend.
Dale Coyne Racing
I’m really liking the Dale Coyne team this year. Seb Bourdais continues to show that he is a championship threat. He paced well in the first practice sessions and can always be expected to be towards the front.
I’m a little more interested with the darkhorse teammate that is young American Santino Ferucci. He wound up sixth in his first IndyCar practice having crossed the pond from GP2 and his reserve driver position for Haas. He has plenty of open wheel experience, and Dale Coyne is the master of strategy, look for the two of them to work a little magic.
Emerson’s Picks for Detroit Race 1:
- Sebastien Bourdais
- Santino Ferrucci
