When the REV Group Grand Prix closes its pre-race festivities on June 23 with an epic flyover and the command to start engines, it will be just one of the instances where Road America will honor first responders during the upcoming NTT IndyCar Series event.
Today it was announced that the historic Wisconsin track will feature a military flyover during pre-race ceremonies ahead of the 55-lap contest. The 25th Flying Training Squadron, 71st Flying Training Wing will venture from Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma to pilot four T-38 jets to pay tribute to America’s first responders during the National Anthem.
“The flyover is one of the most memorable moments of race weekend, and we are honored to welcome the 25th Flying Training Squadron, 71st Flying Training Wing,” said Road America President and General Manager, Mike Kertscher.
“We are grateful to the service members who serve in our military, and we look forward to welcoming these brave pilots as we pay tribute to America’s first responders.”
During the event weekend, all first responders (police, fire and EMS) plus military personnel will be able to enjoy free gate access to each day of the REV Group Grand Prix – that includes Friday, Saturday and Sunday admission.
All that is necessary is proof of active status at the gate in the form of a department-issued ID, badge, copies of certifications, or an active roster copy from an individual’s department on department letterhead.
The NTT IndyCar Series will kick off practice for the REV Group Grand Prix on Friday, June 21, followed by qualifications on Saturday, June 22 and the race on Sunday, June 23. In between, fans can catch action from each level of the Road to Indy – Indy Lights, Pro Mazda and USF 2000 – as well as the Blue Marble Cocktails Radical Cup and the Battery Tender Global Mazda MX-5 Cup.
Additionally, fans 16-year-old or younger are free to enter all events as long as they are accompanied by a paying adult, and students can show their school ID at the gate to receive $10 off their ticket price for all days as well. For more information, visit www.roadamerica.com.
