Final warm up from the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach took place on a sunny Sunday morning. The session saw some new names at the top as the teams worked on pit stops and push to pass strategy. Colton Herta in his Harding Steinbrenner Honda-powered car led the way at the conclusion of the thirty-minute session.
Herta set a time of 1:07.105 on the Firestone reds. Behind him was Marco Andretti who laid down a flier of 1:07.347. Ryan Hunter-Reay was back near the top of a session – as he had been on Friday and Saturday morning – with a time of 1:07.402 to go third.
Graham Rahal finished in fourth with a time of 1:07.578. In fifth was Rahal’s teammate and last weekend’s race winner Takuma Sato with a time of 1:07.702. All top 5 times were set on the red Firestone tires.
Pole sitter Alexander Rossi finished the session seventh with a time of 1:07.905, just behind Scott Dixon who circulated in 1:07.902. Both Honda powered machines have shown great pace all weekend to end up on the front row and should offer an excellent battle once the green flag drops.
That green flag will fly at 1:42 PM local time with coverage beginning on NBCSN at 1:00 PM Pacific. Stay tuned to Open-Wheels.com for continuing coverage.
