Indianapolis 500 race weekend rolls along with Firestone Legends Day today! While the day won’t see any on-track action, there is plenty to do at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway before tomorrow’s 103rd Running of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.
The day will begin with the gates opening at 8:00 AM and the Indianapolis 500 Memorabilia Show kicking off at the same time in the Pagoda Plaza. Each of the 33 Indianapolis 500 starters will take part in an autograph session at 9:00 AM and the annual Public Drivers Meeting will take place at 10:30 AM.
Fans can sit in the Tower Terrace to take in the meeting, as is tradition. When the drivers meeting concludes at 11:15 AM, historic cars from the Indy 500’s past will roam the track until 12:20 PM, and the concert gates for today’s country music line-up in Turn 4 will open at 1:00 PM.
After Kool and the Gang and Foreigner packed the house for yesterday’s Carb Day concert, Zac Brown Band will headline today’s concert with Clayton Anderson and Carly Pearce serving as supporting acts.
The midway will be open today from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Weather for today’s festivities will be splendid – better than what is being predicted for tomorrow! We are expecting temperatures to reach the mid-80s Fahrenheit with partly cloudy conditions. There is a chance for an afternoon thunderstorm to pass through, but that is essentially a given for every day in an Indiana spring.
