The staff at Open-Wheels.com finalized today the cash purse for this weekend’s Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race presented by Mitchell Transmissions.

As indicated in the rule book, the scale of cash prizes awarded for this year’s event was dependent on overall funding raised by a variety of methods – including lap sponsorship, presenting sponsorships, associate, and race partner packages.

Open-Wheels is proud to announce that the highest mark to achieve was reached, and per the Rule Book, Scale A will be used to pay drivers for the 2019 event. Scale A pays out a total of $1,000 in cash earnings, which is in addition to the qualifying and race prizes that drivers may earn.

In this scale, the winner of the race will receive $400, while second place earns $150 and third place takes home $100. The earnings incrementally drop until 11th place is reached, which will pay out $5 for every spot between 11th and 33rd.

Unusual for one-off events that produce prize pools, the Open-Wheels 500 Mile Race does not require drivers to pay entry fees to participate in the event.

Here is the full breakdown of cash payments (tied to race finish) for this year’s event:

  • First Place: $400
  • Second Place: $150
  • Third Place: $100
  • Fourth Place: $75
  • Fifth Place: $50
  • Sixth Place: $35
  • Seventh Place: $30
  • Eighth Place: $25
  • Ninth and Tenth Place: $20
  • Eleventh to Thirty-Third: $5

In addition to the race result cash purse, and an additional $300 value in race cash prizes and giveaway items is up for grabs for this weekend’s 33 starters. Winner’s of the Veterans 100 and Pit Stop Competition presented by The Pit Window will also take home $10 each.
