Chevrolet, Honda join in the action at 2020 Open-Wheels 500

SEPTEMBER 17, 2020 – On Thursday it was announced that automotive powerhouses Chevrolet and Honda will be recognized as the official manufacturers of the second annual Open-Wheels 500 Mile Race, to be held this November.  The two NTT INDYCAR SERIES engine suppliers will be featured as manufacturers that drivers may select on their entry form and represent during the Month of November.

“It is exciting to formally announce the agreement between the Open-Wheels 500 and our manufacturers Chevrolet and Honda,” said Tanner Watkins, president of the Open-Wheels 500 Mile Race.

“Last year, we had an option for entrants to choose between Chevrolet or Honda on the entry form, but without prior written permission, the drivers couldn’t bring their affiliation into the liveries that would be shown on RaceSpot TV’s race or qualifying telecasts.  With this agreement, Chevrolet and Honda have allowed all entrants to the 2020 Open-Wheels 500 to run their respective logos on our cars, and that is an addition to our event that brings the authenticity up to another level.

“Chevrolet and Honda have been such wonderful partners with the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, and that has compelled the group at Open-Wheels to promote each manufacturer through our 500 Mile Race,” Watkins continued.  “We hope the competitors enjoy the ability to represent one of the two brands through their race entries.”

The Open-Wheels 500 Mile Race is a two-week competition hosted at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the iRacing Motorsports Simulations platform.  Drivers from around the world fight to qualify for the 33-car field in an authentic ‘500’ experience, which includes two days of qualifications, the traditional three-wide start, a milk bottle for the winner, and much more.

Entries towards the 2020 Open-Wheels 500 Mile Race will be accepted between September 28 and October 26, with a link to the entry form being posted on Open-Wheels.com, the iRacing forums, the Open-Wheels 500 Discord server, and upon request.  The rule book for the 2020 event will be released Friday, September 18.

The 2020 Open-Wheels 500 Mile Race will be shown live worldwide on Sunday, November 15 at 11:30 AM Eastern, exclusively on RaceSpot TV.
