We are less than a month until the inaugural 500 Mile Race goes green – and the staff at Open-Wheels is proud to announce that Doug Raber State Farm has joined the event as an official partner.

Raber’s insurance branch, located in Albion, Illinois, joins an accomplished list of sponsors already confirmed for the November event.

“To have the opportunity to team up with a community member such as Doug, who is an avid race fan himself, is an honor and something that I am proud to announce,” said Tanner Watkins, the owner and editor of as well as the president of the 500 Mile Race presented by Mitchell Transmissions.

“Before announcing this partnership, I had the chance to share stories and memories about the Indianapolis 500 with Doug, and finally understood his thorough passion for all forms of racing. I am happy to have him on board as a supporter of our inaugural race and hope that he enjoys the action we will have on display during the month of November.”

Raber is a graduate of Southern Illinois University and has served as a State Farm agent for nearly 20 years. His office location at 15 North 5th Street in Albion has been a staple in the community for years.

“I have been an open-wheel race fan for many years,” states Raber.  “When my younger son was growing up, we had the opportunity to participate in open-wheel events – beginning with go-karts and later moving to modified midgets.  I feel that driving an open-wheel race car requires extra effort and skill. One small bump can take you out in a fraction of a second.

“It gives me great pleasure to sponsor this race. I’m a huge IndyCar fan that attends the Indy 500 every year. I wish each of you great success as you participate in this event.”

The Albion, Illinois State Farm branch that Raber oversees offers auto, home, business, property, life, and health insurance options to fit your needs. To learn more (or get a quote) feel free to reach out via or by giving the office a call at 618-445-2012.

The 2019 500 Mile Race will go green on Sunday, November 17 on RaceSpot TV. The green flag is scheduled for 11:45 AM Eastern time, with pre-race coverage being provided at 11:15 AM Eastern on RaceSpot – as well as a special airing of Today at the 500 from 9 to 11 AM Eastern.
