As the Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race presented by Mitchell Transmissions approaches its ever-important two days of qualifying, the event would like to announce a new partner: the FUEL Racing League.

“I am excited to kick off our third day of on-track activity for this year’s Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race presented by Mitchell Transmissions by announcing the FUEL Racing League as a partner of the 2019 event,” said Tanner Watkins, owner and editor of Open-Wheels.com.

“I have known Will (Roberts) for nearly as long as I have been a participant on iRacing, and it is exciting to partner with him for our inaugural Open-Wheels 500. I have driven in Will’s various leagues in years past, and I know that he operates all of his endeavors with absolute class and honesty. We are thankful to have him be a part of this year’s race.”

The FUEL Racing League is a multi-series operation that presents various forms of sanctioned motorsports competition, ranging from stock cars to Indy cars, and even sprint car and off-road championships.

FUEL’s five leagues are as follows: The Mission 22 Cup Series (NASCAR Cup cars), the Bigkorn SuperTruck Series (NASCAR Trucks), the r/RTD IndyCar Series (Dallara IR-18), Jared Dixon Designs Sprint Car Series (360 Winged Sprints), and FUEL Off-Road Series (Off Road Pro-4 Trucks).

For league owner Will Roberts, the decision to partner with Watkins’ Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race was a result of the aforementioned interactions between the two on iRacing.

“Tanner has been a long time supporter and friend of mine, as well as a great motorsports journalist and event planner,” said Roberts. “When we saw that he was planning an event, the likes of which the iRacing IndyCar community has never seen, we knew we had to jump on board.

“As fellow IndyCar fans and IndyCar sim racers, we felt the chance to partner with the Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race was only logical. All of us at FUEL cannot wait to see what is in store on November 17th.”

The FUEL r/RTD IndyCar Series, in particular, runs on Thursday evenings – and will even have a race tonight from Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. After visiting iconic tracks like Pocono Raceway, The Milwaukee Mile and Monza’s grand prix circuit, the series will close its season with trips to Watkins Glen, WorldWide Technology Raceway at Gateway, WeatherTech Raceway at Laguna Seca, and Homestead-Miami Speedway.
