INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA – With less than 60 days to go until the Open-Wheels Grand Prix will open the festivities for the Greatest Spectacle in Sim Racing, Open-Wheels Motorsports Sanctioning is excited to open up registration for the 3rd Open-Wheels 500 Mile Race.
To be held on November 19th, 2022 after a one-year absence, the Open-Wheels 500 allows sim racers from around the world to fight alongside each other in the most authentic, dramatic, and immersive “500” experience in sim racing.
Entrants will also have a brand-new version of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to contend with. While competitiors have already been let loose on the new Road Course at IMS after iRacing released the Road Configuration on July 25th, they have been forced to wait before diving into preperations for this year’s 500 Mile Race with the Oval Configuration being released on September 7th as part of iRacing’s quarterly updates.
While sim racers can enter both the Open-Wheels GP and the Open-Wheels 500, entries for the Open-Wheels GP are separate from the Open-Wheels 500, bringing a new audience to the Open-Wheels community!
The inaugaural Open-Wheels GP will be held on Saturday, November 5th to kick off the on-track action at the Brickyard. The Opening Day of Practice will be held on Monday, November 7th followed by a further practice day on Wednesday, November 9th building to “Fast Friday” on Friday, November 11th.
