The staff at Open-Wheels is proud to announce a new partner for this November’s Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race. Derek Speare Designs will join the appreciated group of inaugural sponsors ahead of the fall event, providing three top-of-the-line button boxes as prizes for the race.

“To add a respected individual of the sim racing community such as Derek Speare to our portfolio of partners for the Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race is a tremendous honor,” said Tanner Watkins, owner and editor of Open-Wheels.com and the president of the Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race.

“The job Derek has done in building his company up from a passion to a complete business represents that values we like to display in the line of work we do at Open-Wheels. He is dedicated, thorough and detailed – and we could not be any more proud to have the DSD logo featured on our partners page.”

As part of the partnership, Derek Speare Designs will donate three of their popular Track Boss Classic button controllers (click here to see) to participants in the Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race. In particular, the button boxes will be awarded as follows:

  • One button box awarded to the winner of the Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race.
  • One button box awarded via a random draw, within a pool of drivers who started the Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race and completed 50% or more of the scheduled race distance.
  • One button box donated via the Safe Driver Award. This will go to the driver who has the least number of incidents in the race and completes 50% or more of the scheduled race distance. In the event of a tie in this category, the winner will be drawn randomly from the eligible participants.

Consistent with his enthusiasm for sim racing as a whole, Speare brings genuine excitement to the inaugural Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race.

“DSD is very much looking forward to the Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race! We’re pleased to participate as a sponsor of the event and Tanner Watkins has organized an exciting racing schedule,” said Speare, the owner of Derek Speare Designs. “Tanner’s professional approach and organization of the Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile Race for the iRacing community will certainly be as close to the real thing as anyone would expect. The event is all about the participants.

“We love to give prizes and it’s great to offer up some DSD button controllers to add some sizzle and excitement to the event! We’re certain the participants of the Open-Wheels.com 500 Mile race will have a blast and hope that some DSD Track Boss controllers will make it better! Have Fun and GLA”
